A message from Germany...
Roland at AC Price
My name is Roland Bandusch and I am a 59-year old guy from Germany. During my mechanical engineering studies I spent some time at British Aerospace and the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield before I moved to the Black Forest in the southwest of Germany. My intention always has been to come back to England one day.
During the last 20 years I have spent lots of hours as a volunteer in the German Unimog-Museum, which is also located in the Black Forest and was opened in 2006. At the museum I do guided tours through the Unimog exhibition, I train people to drive the Unimog off road and show off the current Unimogs in several Mercedes Benz gravel pits.
To complete my “English story” I decided to stay in Britain again, to gain more mechanical knowledge, to improve my technical English and to serve the international visitors of the museum in a better way. I found out about AC Price in Ingleton whilst I was there, and applied for a 2 months occupation in the company and in the workshop.
And finally I got the chance to work at AC Price (ACP) during June and July 2025.
Meeting new people can be interesting and challenging at the same time, with Alex and his team, it was a very enjoyable experience. After a quick introduction to the people, to the different tasks and the huge portfolio of different work to fulfil by Alex, I started my “new job” as a member of the team. I was always met with “open ears” for my questions and satisfying answers to my problems. Although everybody was busy, my new colleagues were patient and willing to help and support.
Thus I have felt integrated in the whole team, from spare parts to engineering and maintenance, it was very fast paced and I enjoyed the work. It was a very nice experience to have the confidence of the colleagues and do some work on the vehicles independently only after a short period of time working at ACP.
Very impressive and outstanding were the huge variety of different engineering projects, from the planning on the PC until the final testing on the Unimog. Everybody involved in the chain makes a very good job to a very high standard. In the workshop I found the experts to have the same high quality of standard, which Alex Price has. He also has a very impressive knowledge of how to repair all Unimogs and solve even the most difficult problems.
At the end of the stay I left ACP with lots of very valuable impressions; I have met a very good and motivated team, working there and I do have a much better understanding how much responsibility everybody has in this kind of business. And on top of that I could expand my technological knowledge and technical English and take it with me into the museum and to our visitors there. Additionally I have met a very competent and nice team in Ingleton, which made me feeling comfortable in the company from day one..
